“Are we there yet?”
A lot of progress on the '66 Mustang going on - both visible and not so visible. The front and rear glass is in with restored stainless trim, speakers and package tray, rear quarter window assemblies and so forth.
The dash is fully assembled. Soon, new interior panels, carpet, and seats can go back in.
Things are looking better than the day it rolled off the production line.
The Weber DVG carb and modified throttle linkage looks like something the factory could have done. The stainless dual outlet headers add to the appearance as well as performance.
A DUI electronic ignition system is a huge step up from the anemic Ford Load-O-Matic points distributor and setup. The coil is built into the HEI style cap for electronic reliability. The system required replacing the old, bulky power steering pump with a custom bracket and more compact Saginaw style pump by Borgeson.
Even the new radiator has an additional row for better cooling. The old rad was literally falling apart.
As doors, fenders, trunk lid and other parts go back on all the fasteners must be painted to match.
Doors are hung, much of the glass is in, and restored stainless trim reattached.
Car is elevated for exhaust work.
