The Body Count
Working on old cars that have sat for a long time are always interesting and a bit like an archaeological dig.
One of the first things on the '63 T-Bird was to determine why there were no brakes. A quick inspection turned up at least one leaking wheel cylinder - so we know where the fluid is going. But we also found three out of four wheels had broken brake shoe springs. These springs are supposed the retract the shoes when you let off the brakes.
While ordering and waiting on a boat load of parts we decided to pull the seats to make repairs and remove panels to access power windows that aren't working.
In the process we found two dead mice (so far) and a nice comfy nest under the back seat.
Early tests indicate we also have two dead power window motors, issues with switches, and connectors for lights that were mysteriously cut off and missing. More to come...
